Authenticity – an important factor in leadership development

It is difficult for people to develop when they are distracted by inner conflict. At work, people learn best when they feel they can be themselves in their work setting.

Living a life that is strongly connected to one’s belief system, is energizing and promotes growth, learning, and psychological well-being.

Authenticity allows for greater satisfaction with and pleasure in work and life in general.

Individual authenticity is important for organisations because people who are authentic bring their whole selves to their jobs, and participate fully and honestly in the workplace. (Christabelle Aranha)
