Leaders establish standards for the organization
26. August 2007
Leaders do not expect staffers or volunteers to have a crystal ball from which they can divine the manager’s expectations. Leaders first decide what these standards should be and then communicate them downward. As a host of an awards gala once said, “It is awfully hard to win if you are not nominated.” Likewise, it is unrealistic to expect subordinates to follow nonexistent standards.
