Leading involves communication

24. Juli 2007

Complete communication in a program can make it more effective and efficient. When the senior managers constantly play “hide the ball” with their subordinates, they actually make their own jobs harder because those who feel left out may not work to their full potential.

Although there are numerous ways to improve communications, the applicability of each will depend somewhat on the size program. Regular staff meetings are important. Internal newsletters can be effective for larger organizations. Management planning meetings can be productive while spurring staff and executives to think about, address, and prepare for the future.

Leaders must tell their subordinates how they expect them do develop. A policy notebook can be useful for this purpose.
